Once you have Solid Edge Assembly running, you simply run ASAP.  The first pulldown menu is where you choose what type of units you will be using, either English or Metric.  Once you  have made your choice, you then move on to the next pulldown menu.  This is where you choose what type part you will be using.  Having chosen the units and part type, you are then given a list of the available parts.  After choosing the desired part from the part list, you are then presented with a list of possible sizes.  Once you have designated all the possible variables, you simply click place.  This will bring you into the  Place Part mode within Solid Edge, and you're ready to go!
